The Lighting of the New Fire

Only performed at the Easter Vigil, a fire was lit (outdoors, this year) in the portable firepit while Father Manny prepared the Paschal Candle with incense and nails to be lit and carried in procession into the darkened church before the start of the Easter Vigil service.

A selection of readings from the Easter Vigil 2013, which can be read in full at The Lectionary Page.

Creation, read by our verger, Hal Stratton (he got to carry the “verge,” a stick for conducting people, that night).

The Flood, read by our parishioner, Connie.
